One Million Passports Leaked Online I really wish this hadn't become the norm. We should not be expected to provide sensitive government-issued credentials to private companies, such as SSNs and passports. Those are government documents that should be used to identify yourself to government entities. A lot of breaches wouldn't matter so much if we didn't allow the storage of government-issued credentials.
I Left Port 22 Open on the Internet for 54 Days. Here's Who Showed Up. (Found in 82MHz's Linkdump No 113 ) This was a really interesting read! It's very statistics heavy, diving into what was found on their honeypot that was up for 54 days. Only a few people actually connected via ssh, which was surprising. I expected more, honestly. Overall it's very detailed and interesting to see how random, open machines are being hit constantly.

Not Just License Plates: They’re Going to Track So Much More We are just moving more and more closer to living in a dystopian-level surveillance state. This makes me want to make sure not to have a smart car, and not carry any device with me that has any sort of wireless technology in it. Unfortunately, they have intentionally made this near impossible since so much requires a smartphone these days.

Gadgets For People Who Don't Trust The Government I loved everything in this video. I am all for using alternatives to big tech and this was full of those types of things. I particularly found the weather satellite portion interesting, as I was unaware of that. It'd be fun to spin up some of these. I will likely get into mesh networking here in the near future.
